1 Thes 1:3
"Remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."
The triad faith-love-hope in its most original form (prior to 1 Cor 13). Each virtue has its expression: faith = work (ergou), love = labor (kopou), hope = steadfastness (hypomones). Hope is not passive—it is active perseverance.
1 Thes 1:9-10
"For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the coming wrath."
The summary of the Thessalonian Gospel: conversion from idols to the living God, service to the true God, waiting for the Son from heaven. Eschatology is central from the start: Jesus 'who delivers us from the coming wrath.'
