Heb 4:12-13
"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
God’s Word as spiritual surgeon: living (zōsa), active (energes), sharp (tomōteros). It penetrates beyond the surface to the deepest parts of the person—discerning thoughts and intentions. Nothing is hidden before God.
Heb 4:15-16
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
The humanity of Christ is the foundation of our confident prayer. Christ was tempted in every way (kata panta kath homoioteta) as we are—except for sin. Temptation without sin is more intense, not less—Christ endured the full pressure that we relieve by yielding. Therefore, He can sympathize.
